Man Utd’s signing of Fernandes lauded by Wes Brown

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has drooled over the signing of Bruno Fernandes in the January transfer window, per an exclusive interview with Football FanCast.

What’s he said?

United spent an initial £47m on the Portugal international and he has been in excellent form since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon.

The 5 foot 10 man has played seven times for the club, scoring three goals and registering two assists, scoring against both Watford and Everton in the Premier League, and Club Brugge in the Europa League.

He has slotted straight into the starting XI as an attacking midfielder and Brown has been excited by what he has seen, insisting that he can still improve to boot.

He said: “Then you bring in Bruno. You’re hoping that he can meet the expectations, and straight away he’s gone off with a bang.

“The confidence he brings to the team, already you can see different movements as soon as he gets the ball, because everyone knows he wants to play the pass and play that final ball.

“He could get even better as well, so it’s still early, but he’s been absolutely excellent.”

Dead right

The Fernandes deal feels like one of the best that United have done in recent years.

To anyone who has even looked at his Transfermarkt page, it should not be a surprise that he has been in such excellent form since his move to Old Trafford.

Indeed, he scored 63 goals and registered 52 assists in 137 outings for Sporting, where he swiftly became the main man and left the club as their captain.

He is also a Portugal international who has won 19 caps and scored two goals for his country.

Add into the fact that he is just 25 and has at least another five years at the very top of his game and one feels that United have got phenomenal value for money out of this transfer.

Meanwhile, Man Utd fans have mocked the same man!
