The unthinkable has happened.Leeds United have competently done what they wanted to do in the January transfer window – signing Jean-Kevin Augustin on loan after weeks of scrambling to replace Eddie Nketiah. Now that one is over and done with, perhaps Leeds can start thinking about strengthening other areas.Indeed, they’ve been linked with a couple of centre-backs in the shape of Connor Goldson and Harold Moukoudi, but it seems as though those deals won’t be happening this month as Phil Hay relayed a message from Marcelo Bielsa about Leeds’ plans for the remainder of the January window.

What’s been said then?
Just hours after Augustin was announced as United’s newest loan signing, Bielsa hosted his pre-match press conference ahead of the Whites’ match against Millwall.
Understandably, questions were asked about transfers as there’s now less than a week to go in the window, and Bielsa’s update won’t be one that many will have wanted to hear.
Hay was live-tweeting the Argentine’s press conference, and he relayed the message that there would be no more signings this month.
Mistake
It’s hard to say that this is anything but a mistake from the Yorkshire club.
Realistically they’ve not strengthened all that much. They’ve signed two teenagers who are unlikely to have too much of an impact on the first-team given their lack of senior experience, while they also landed a striker who has scored just once in the past 12 months.
There are problem positions that need addressing – left-back is an issue with Gjanni Alioski attracting criticismÂand Stuart Dallas has been forced to play out of position in midfield for large periods of this season due to a lack of depth.
In short, United are putting their promotion chances at risk with this decision.
In other news, one of Leeds’ reported transfer targets has been put up for sale.
